Our History

From 1980 to present day.

The story of Sunnybank starts in 1980 when our founder and former Chief Executive, Tom Rhind-Tutt MBE, started an advocacy charity out of him home on Sunnybank Road in Epsom.

​

Tom, as part of his religious group at the time, went into LD hospitals to visit and support people, somethign he had been doing since 1970

​

People chained to radiators, unhappy, 

​

he had one goal:

Tom has dyslexia, and in 1939, at age 12 years, Tom was expelled from school, being told he was "too stupid" and that he "should give up"

passionate about advocate for inclusion and understanding that people are different.

In 2011, Tom formilised his advocacy group. The sunnybank trust was registered with xxxx.

Kind donation of xxx of 75,000 after winning millionare show. that sunnybank was able to start xxx

We support around 340 vulnerable men, women and young adults with learning disabilities in Surrey to live without prejudice and have confidence, opportunities and control over their own lives.
