How Can You Help?
Whatever your age, health and interests there will be a way in which you can help us in a wide range of activities.
- Friends' Programme
As a befriender, you will regularly visit a resident in their home, for some this may include going on an outing or simply a walk. Long term personal friendship is the essential feature. - Community Church
Many residents in the area of Manor Park and Oak Glade attend the regular community church Sunday service. As part of this team, the volunteer helps in a range of activities throughout the year. - Pen Friend Scheme
A pen friend will send personal birthday and Christmas cards, or short letters to an allocated resident in a community home who would otherwise not receive any post. - Community Homes Link
Each month a dedicated volunteer team visits community homes in the area to encourage staff and discover needs. Frequent staff changes and the shift system means that the staff needs regular updates. -
Kites Social Club
The role of the Kites Club helper is to encourage and enable Club members to participate in the weekly club activities that the member may choose. There is a Rota of roles that are rotated between the volunteers including craft help, kitchen assistance, drama & music support or simply general socializing. - Lay Advocates Programme
We recruit volunteers to voice the rights of people with a learning disability whilst providing the respect and dignity to which they are entitled. The programme is based upon the citizen advocacy model, and follows the principles of the Advocacy Charter.
Perhaps you have a particular skill or idea to offer. If so send us now a short message to info@sunnybanktrust.org and we will respond.
